WOW #113

I'm waiting on

 Never Always Sometimes

Never Always Sometimes by Adi Alsaid
Release Date August 4th 2015

Never date your best friend

Always be original

Sometimes rules are meant to be broken

Best friends Dave and Julia were determined to never be cliché high school kids—the ones who sit at the same lunch table every day, dissecting the drama from homeroom and plotting their campaigns for prom king and queen. They even wrote their own Never List of everything they vowed they'd never, ever do in high school.

Some of the rules have been easy to follow, like #5, never die your hair a color of the rainbow, or #7, never hook up with a teacher. But Dave has a secret: he's broken rule #8, never pine silently after someone for the entirety of high school. It's either that or break rule #10, never date your best friend. Dave has loved Julia for as long as he can remember.

Julia is beautiful, wild and impetuous. So when she suggests they do every Never on the list, Dave is happy to play along. He even dyes his hair an unfortunate shade of green. It starts as a joke, but then a funny thing happens: Dave and Julia discover that by skipping the clichés, they've actually been missing out on high school. And maybe even on love.

Why I'm Waiting?
Always excited for a best friends romance! Plus this sounds kind of fun since they made this list of nevers and now they are going to do them all.

Protect your family. At all costs.

It’d take the impossible to hurt Connor Cobalt, even for a moment.

Protect your family. At all costs.

At twenty-six, his narcissistic tendencies have made room for the people he loves.

Protect your family. At all costs.

And he loves Rose. But when his love is threatened, when his greatest dreams with her are compromised — what is the cost then?

Protect your family. At all costs.

Love will guide his choices.
For the first time in his life.

**AUTHORS' NOTE**
It's possible to only read the Calloway Sisters spin-off series without reading the Addicted series, but you MUST read Hothouse Flower (Calloway Sisters #2) before reading Fuel the Fire (Calloway Sisters #3).

It's highly recommended to read the books in the recommended reading order, which is in tangent with the Addicted series. If you choose not to read Addicted After All before Fuel the Fire, there will be a time jump.

Fuel the Fire picks up in the Addicted Timeline where Addicted After All ended. FTF will not retell past events from Addicted After All in Rose & Connor's POV. All new material.

THE ADDICTED CHARACTERS AND PARANORMAL CREATURES

The Addicted Characters exist in a contemporary world. But what if they were living in a world full of paranormal creatures: vampires, werewolves, and zombies. We’re here to break down this alternate universe and determine what each Addicted Character would be if they could choose to be a paranormal creature.

ROSE CALLOWAY
While she would have a hard time admitting it (especially to Loren), she’d choose to be a witch. The unlimited spells and power would be pretty damn awesome. Plus, she could magically whip up an awesome outfit Sabrina-style.

CONNOR COBALT
Let’s preface by saying that Connor would not enjoy this alternate universe. Not one bit. He does not believe in magic, fairies, or any of the fantastical. But he would wholeheartedly approve of being immortal. The only kind of immortal in this paranormal universe would be the vampiric kind. And while Connor wouldn’t be thrilled of the idea of drinking blood in order to stay alive, he’d do it for the obvious perk of immortality.

LILY CALLOWAY & LOREN HALE
Both Lily and Loren would choose to be a witch and a wizard. If only so they could be accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. All of their dreams would literally come true if this happened.

DAISY CALLOWAY
At first, she’d want to be a mermaid. But after she thought about it for a while, she would quickly realize that being in the ocean all the time would not be too fun. So she’d choose to be a fairy, able to fly around and blow fairy dust at people—granting wishes and making others fly.

RYKE MEADOWS
Ryke wouldn’t really care what he was, as long as he didn’t have to harm anyone in the process (*ahem* sucking people’s blood). If he had to choose, he’d go with a werewolf. The super strength and super speed are enticing as well as a life in the woods. Plus, he’d be pretty certain he could control the urge to bite/scratch other people.

Warning: Sleeping with a friend might change your life forever.

Sleeping with Kyle was never in the plans. Pretending to be his girlfriend was one thing, but letting our relationship become anything but platonic was another. The problem with mixing friendship with sex is that inevitably feelings get involved, and when that happens there's no turning back.

When Kyle's life fell apart around him, I needed to help, but doing that meant opening myself up to the most terrifying thing in the world—falling in love.

This can be read as a standalone but I like reading them in order because you do get a little extra back story that way. Kyle and Jade were mentioned previously in the series. I was actually super excited for this book because I really really liked Kyle in the first book and third book. He was mentioned briefly only but he seemed like a nice guy that deserved a happy ending. I also love friends to lovers stories.

Jade and Kyle are friends and work at a radio show together. They both also like each other. We get both POVs which I always love in romance books so we know truly where their heads and hearts are. Kyle's family believes he has a girlfriend so he asks Jade to join him on a family trip and pretend to be his girlfriend. I for some reason always love stories with this kind of outrageous plot line. Like I should really just find a guy I like and tell him I need him to pretend to be my boyfriend and then we will end up together! LOL That happens in books and movies and I really wonder if it ever worked in real life. While a little out there I thought it worked well for this story. Kyle didn't want his mom setting him up so he lied and said he had a girlfriend and asking a friend to pretend makes sense.

Time together is just what they need to bring feelings to the surface. But like so many romances past feelings and lack of communication does get in the way. Tragedy strikes and I was surprised yet also kind of expecting it. I was hoping for a little more detail and resolve with it though. I kind of wanted to know if Kyle talked more to his parents about what was going on and if they ever found out for sure what happened. The story does stay on the more simple and less detailed side. It works though. Whenever I pick up a book in this series I know I'm going to have a fun and sexy romance. A very enjoyable and quick read.

"I'm here for as long as you need me."
"Even if that means forever?"
"Even if it means forever."

I didn’t rush to turn the light off. I wasn’t sure if either of us were ready to go back to darkness again. If she was feeling even remotely like me, then sleep was the last thing on her mind.
If a kiss could make me feel that way, the sex was going to be incredible. That thought ran through my head on repeat as I tried to keep my eyes anywhere but on her. Eventually my willpower gave out, and I turned to look at her lying under the sheets next to me with a soft smile on her lips. I wanted to taste those lips again so bad I could barely take it.
She read my mind. “You officially have permission to kiss me anytime.”
“That’s great permission to have.” I rolled over on to my side next to her. I wasn’t giving up any opening she was willing to give.
“Do I have it too?”
“On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.” I ran my hand down her bare arm.
“But today is Sunday.”
“I guess I can make an exception.” I grinned, loving how she’d moved us back to the teasing that came so naturally.
“Can you?” She sat up and looked down at me.
Something snapped. I needed her, and it wasn’t going to wait. I pulled her on top of me.
She giggled. “Wow, and I didn’t even say please.”
“I guess you didn’t.” I rolled her off me, and instead hovered above her.
She looked up at me through her unbelievably long eyelashes. “Would you please make an exception?”
“You have full permission to kiss me.”
She reached up and pulled my head down to hers. Her lips crashed into mine aggressively, and that only made me want her more. I didn’t wait for her to open up this time, I pushed my way into her mouth, determined to get every taste of her I could.
She slipped her hand underneath my t-shirt, and I needed more of her touch. I broke the kiss long enough to pull off my t-shirt.
“If we’re playing fair tonight, you can take mine off too.” Her words sent a thrill through me, but also an alarm. Taking off her shirt was entering new territory. Much more dangerous territory.
“You sure you want me to?” I ran my fingers over the strip of skin exposed by her tank top riding up.

“Yes. Positive.” She sat up and pulled off the tank top herself.

He stopped right out front. “This is going to sound absolutely crazy, but I need you to agree anyway.”
“Okay.” I watched him with interest. Kyle wasn’t the type to call any of his ideas crazy. He was more likely to proclaim them as wonderful.
“If you’re ever going to seriously consider trying out the random sex thing, call me first.”
My mouth fell open. “Uh, you didn’t just say that.”
“I’m just saying I’d rather my best host not die or get badly hurt after she decides to hook up with a random guy.”
“Oh yeah? Worried about your radio station?”
“And a friend.”
“Haven’t you heard about the hazards of sleeping with a friend?” My heart was beating a mile a minute. Had Kyle offered to have sex with me? He must have had more to drink than I thought.
“They’re no worse than hooking up with a random psychopath. Or a drummer,” he mumbled.
“Wait. What?”
“Nothing.” He looked down.
“Nuh uh, I heard you. You think I was talking about having sex with Len?” Kyle made no secret of his distaste of the guy.
“He does flirt with you every chance he gets, even when he’s across the country.”
“And that means I want to sleep with him?” Admittedly I’d had a mega crush on Len Denton, drummer of Chance of a Lifetime, but if my friendship with him had taught me anything, it was that I definitely didn’t want to sleep with him. I’d have chosen Kyle for that role ten times over.
Kyle shrugged. “Just saying, I think I’d be a better choice.”
“So what am I supposed to be agreeing to then? I’ll call you if I get horny next time instead of hooking up with someone random?”
“It sounds so much worse when you say it that way.”
“Because it is that bad.” I still didn’t know if he was actually serious. The offer was so unlike Kyle I doubted it could be.
“Fine. I was just offering.” He shoved his hands in his pockets.
“You were offering your sexual services. Got it.” I smiled. Joke or not, I had to give him a hard time about it.
“That sounds even worse.”
I put a hand on my hip. “Shall we say goodnight before it gets any worse?”
“Forget I said anything.”
“I will. After I tell all my friends.” I grinned. Teasing Kyle came so naturally.
